The Executive Advisor provides operational and strategic operational leadership to the Chief Security Officer and the Group Security Leadership Team. This is a critical and high profile role requiring an expert level of influencing and pattern recognition, personal drive and resilience.

The Executive Advisor Group Security reports directly to the General Manager Security Business Performance and is a member of the Group Security Leadership Team. This role leads a team of four.

Do work that matters

As Executive Advisor, you will have an immediate impact in driving and influencing security outcomes for our customers and the bank in ensuring we meet our explicit and implicit commitments. You will be forward looking and strategic, but also operationally savvy to act as the glue to ensure we deliver what matters and intervene when necessary.

As liaison to the organisation you will be an information-flow guru to address gaps in context, disseminating priorities to those accountable, and management reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board. An ability to build productive relationships and networks across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels will be critical to success.

Specifically you will;

  • Lead the strategic 3 year and annual operating planning process, management updates, and quarterly review
  • Ensure Group Security meet explicit and implicit commitments, through effective planning and monitoring of upcoming key actions, milestones and Executive Leadership Team/Board subjects
  • Connect the dots between security domains to anticipate, identify and develop opportunities to manage operational consistency and alignment across Group Security and the organisation
  • Develop, implement and coordinate business management practices and operating rhythms, supporting the Leadership team in effectively leading the business strategically and operationally to ensure appropriate governance and efficient and effective decision making – including leadership meetings, governance forums and strategy off-sites
  • Provide strategic assessment, alternatives and guidance to the Leadership Team to address complex strategic problems
  • Lead strategic initiatives critical to the Group priorities on behalf of the Chief Security Officer
  • Prepare materials for the Chief Security Officer for various business, risk and governance forums - including the preparation of presentation materials, speaking notes, strategy papers and Board and CEO level documentation

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate at all levels and establish productive working relationships and networks
  • A strong analytic mindset with a talent for pattern recognition to connect dots across the business and technology and lead people through ambiguity and complexity
  • A strong orientation to outcomes with the ability to effectively prioritise competing demands and an agitation to deliver what matters
  • A propensity to run complex discussions to the ground to arrive at fast and effective decisions and trade-offs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively, exercising judgement and resilience to demonstrate composure in a high intensity and ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated capability in managing both the detail and holding the strategic view
  • Strong stakeholder management experience at a Senior Executive level
  • A good understanding of technology and business, and corporate governance
